Kenseikai Ireland Dojo
Kenseikai 剣聖会- means Sword Saint Society. In June 2006 Nick Johnston was authorised by Okimitsu Fujii Sensei (Shichidan Kyoshi and D.N.B.K. International Co-ordinator for Kendo) to establish an Irish branch of Kenseikai. It took some time but in 2008 the Kenseikai Ireland Dojo had been established. It is based at the Martial Arts Academy.
The Academy is a purpose-built martial arts training facility, with a sprung floor dojo/training area, ladies and gents changing rooms and showers and a reception area and office. The academy is conveniently situated near Pearse St Dart station and is close to the city centre.
History of Kenseikai
Fujii Okimitsu Sensei hailed from Saga City the capital of Saga-ken in northern Kyushu and his Dojo there was called Kenseikai. In the UK, Fujii Sensei named several of the Dojo that he founded throughout the country by the same name; hence there are a number of Kenseikai Dojo now practising both Kendo and Iaido.
