Iai giri

I wonder, do we plan to have Iai giri practice to cut makiwara, bamboo, and flesh targts sometime?
May I use the kind of shinken for weekly practice? Do I need the special licence for holding the shinken in Ireland? I would appreciate anyone for such information.

I personally haven't been doing it and I will not allow sharp swords in class, because of security and insurance reasons. As long as people are to inexperienced I would strongly not recommend it. I am not too sure about weapon law in Ireland, but remember that a friend told me that sword have been exempt from the weapons ban in Ireland. But please do not take my word for granted on this.

Hi Bjoern,

Temeshigiri.

I'd stick to tatami matting and forget about cutting flesh targets,,,,,unless there are a few convicts that the government can spare! LOL
Seriously though, I know of a couple of idiots that tried cutting sides of Pork and then didn't clean their blades as thoroughly as they should have....Goodbye blade. It also works out a darn sight more expensive than Tatami.

Bjoern, If you ever need mats get in contact with Dave Ansell, he has a very good supplier at reasonable prices. Eye-wink
