IAI AGM minutes
The Iaido Association of Ireland held its AGM on Saturday 20th Jan. at 10:30
The Following was discussed and decided.
1. Election of Officers:
Paul O Brien was elected President and Brian Kennedy was elected Secretary. It was decided that no treasurer was needed as the roll could be split between the two.
2. Constitution Amendments:
The constitution of the IAI was amended as per suggestions of members present and a new constitution with approved changes will be posted shortly.
3. Re-structure:
It has been decided that as the IAI has no authority nor want to dictate grades or technique, that the technical board should be abolished. All individual Dojo’s are separate entities and will conduct themselves as the Dojo leader deems appropriate.
4. Membership Fees:
It has been decided to review the membership fees for insurance purposes closer to the policy re-newel date so as numbers can be more accurately assessed.
5. New direction:
It has been decided that the association will broaden its goal of promoting Iaido in Ireland to promote all Budo. In the year ahead we will be actively reaching out to other clubs and styles interested in the furthering of Budo in Ireland. We wish to develop a strong community of all styles practiced in Ireland.
