Motions to be voted upon at the AGM
The following suggestions have been made for discussion at the Sat AGM.
1. Clarify and change the fundamental nature of the IAI -
It is the suggestion of several members that the IAI is currently not expansive enough in it's goal - as only 1 primary dojo and 2 affiliated dojo's are represented by the association. It has been suggested that a broader view should be taken to encompass ALL Budo and Koryu practiced in Ireland and that the organisations primary goal should be as an information source for the public who wish to learn more and train in Budo. (Point 2 of Constitution)
2. Change of name for the IAI -
This is in line with the first suggestion. Should the nature of the IAI be changed it stands to reason the name of the association should be changes to reflect that. (Point 1 of current Constitution)
3. Change of the association website -
It has been suggested by members that the present website no longer suits the needs of the current community. It is proposed that a new website and website structure be developed.
4. Amend section 3.1 of the Constitution to remove the term "training".
5. Amend section 3.3 and re-classify categories of membership to include those who wish to be members but who do not wish to be covered by the insurance.
6. Removal of the term Kaicho form section 6.2
7. Include under section 6, "that a board member must be training in a recognized art on a regular basis an for over 1 year to qualify for inclusion of the board. Should an individual elected to the board no longer be able to attend regular training that individual must resign their position.
8. it is proposed that Section 7.1 should add the following; "(e) to positively promote the association to other bodies and media so as to increase the public awareness of Budo."
9. it is proposed that Section 7.2 should add the following; "(d) to assist in research and implementation of the association actions".
10. Abolishing of the Technical Board -
It has been suggested by members that we are not a body of examination or ratification (see point 1) and as such there is no need for a technical board. (Point 8 of current Constitution)
11. Amend section 9.1 to longer confirm insurance benefits automatically to members.
12. Amend section 9.2 to accurately reflect new member designations if so passed form proposal 5.
13. Amend section 9.4 to include senior students or those authorized to teach on behalf of the instructor.
14. To remove the following from section 10.1; "However wearing of the sword is a great privilege.." and the term, "Iaidoka" in keeping with proposals 1 and 2 above.
15. Amend section 10.3 to remove our right to expel someone from a given class, it has been suggested that the association has no right to dictate the actions of dojo. However we should retain the right to remove them from the association.
16. Amend section 11.1 as necessary if proposals 1 and 2 are passed.
17. It has been suggested that the Insurance and the Body of the IAI be separated and all clubs handle their own insurance.
18. It has been suggested that section 12.1 be removed entirely.
19. It has been suggested that w review the Membership fee structure
20. A system for Proxy voting should be examined. (Point 5.3 of current Constitution)
All the best,
Paul
Secretary IAI.
